Next prepare a solution of 1 part pool chlorinator to 6 parts water in a large bucket then submerge the filter in the solution and soak it for 3 to 5 days. Hayward pool filters trap dirt debris and algae present in your pool water. Finally give each filter cartridge one final rinse to remove the acid water solution. Commercial filter cleaners can remove most dirt debris and oil present on the filter but algae growth requires an acid bath.

When reassembling your pool cartridge filter it s a good idea to apply a small amount of silicon based lubricant to the o ring to help extend the lifespan. To clean a cartridge type swimming pool filter remove the filter rinse off the debris with a hose and let it air dry thoroughly.
